SPRING PHOTO COMPETITION 2018
Hoi An Now received 25 contributions to its Spring Photo Competition and wishes to thank all of the photographers for sending us their wonderful shots of their own changing seasons. Pictures were received from as far away as Australia, USA and Nepal, but most of the shots were taken here in Vietnam.
Our judges Etienne Bossot and Bridget March reviewed and debated all of the pictures and eventually selected three finalists, as showcased below. All three photographers attended a special prize-giving event at the March Gallery in Hoi An, where judge Bridget March announced the winner and presented all photographers with a prize.
We are thrilled to reveal that Andy Barker was chosen as the winner, for his delightful capture of traditionally dressed tribal girls wielding mobile phones.
Congratulations to Andy, Jerem and Nguyen for your stunning pictures. The images are now on exhibition at the March Gallery (25 Phan Bội Châu) so do swing by and take a peek if you are passing by.
Thank you again to our partners Anantara Hoi An Resort, Be Be Tailors, Citrus Health Spa and Pure Beauty Spa for sponsoring the prizes.
WINNER! Andy Barker – The Judges Report
These hill-tribe girls are all dressed up to celebrate spring and we loved the reality check of the first girl being on two mobile phones at once. Good composition, technical excellence. lots of mixed spring colors and mobile phones! We loved it.
RUNNER-UP! Jerem Pellegrin – The Judges’ Report
Why does it say spring time in Vietnam? She sells whistles of all the animals in the zodiac and the animal changes every spring. This year it is the dog. The composition is very good and the complementary colors make this an exciting image.
RUNNER-UP! Du Muc Art (Nguyen Manh Tuan) – The Judges’ Report
For local communities , there is a lot of spring time excitement around the race day, so this is a perfect subject for spring in Hoi An. It has a more documentary style than other entries. The composition is good and it is an action shot in sharp focus.
