SOUL KITCHEN $$
Beachside bar/restaurant Soul Kitchen is a slice of paradise: take a sun chair by the water’s edge, a cabana overlooking the East Sea on high, or settle in at the bar, the choice is yours. Wednesday to Sunday, Soul Kitchen is also undisputedly Hoi An’s premier live music venue. Check out our Events Calendar for their current program.
Bands such as the Lola Zolas, who wander between Hoi An and Hanoi, play diverse styles ranging from Django Rienhardt to the Cranberries with some classy originals in both French and English as well. And, when it comes to dance music, you may find international performers such as Franz Underwear (visiting from Berlin) who is hyped thus: he “inspires dancers with his eclectic blend of spacey Electro, New Wave, and Acid House speckled with hints of Detroit and Chicago House.”
With plenty of room for families, who flock to Soul Kitchen on weekends, kids entertain themselves in numbers for hours while their parents get on with a well-earned cocktail or two before the music starts.
The kitchen is reasonable and the beer and cocktails are very affordable for a seaside venue. For more choice, you can even grab a pizza from Luna d’autunno a few doors down (they’ll deliver it to your table with Soul Kitchen’s blessing).
