Barely noticeable sitting opposite the Palm Garden Resort, Mi Casa doesn’t look like much but it’s a high quality venue with original ideas. The feel is fusion although a dedicated western selection rounds things off. No ambience – just a wonderfully-realised menu and a good-hearted family vibe welcome that makes you want to come again.
The tofu with tamarind was a delight as was a simple yet subtle pumpkin dish with crushed peanuts and fresh basil. Other standouts included grilled pork ribs, squid and barbecued clams, all served with shallots, garlic and lemongrass.
At the helm Ms Chung effortlessly moves from hands-on kitchen management to charming diners front-of-house. She picked up many of her fusion flavour ideas while serving an apprenticeship with Ms Vy at Hoi An’s famous Morning Glory.
With fresh ingredients, original ideas and a ‘start-from-scratch-approach’ you may need to wait a little longer, but the wait is very well worth it.
