There are public, private and international hospitals in Central Vietnam. The public hospital system is poor and doctors speak little or no English. The private/international hospitals are better positioned to treat expats and have English-speaking doctors (though not always!).
Below is a list of places to visit if you have any medical issues.
For anything serious (outside of emergencies), many expats go to the Family Medical Practice in Danang. This is run by English speaking doctors. It is similar to what you get back home. The other expat favourites are the Da Nang Hoan My Hospital and the Family Hospital.

With its diverse multinational team of physicians and the latest in medical equipment and diagnostic tools, Family Medical Practice offers extensive 24-hour healthcare, emergency, and medical evacuation services to local, expatriate, and corporate patients. With five locations in Vietnam, it has been a leading international medical care in this country since 1994. Its global insurance affiliations allow direct billing to most insured patients.
Dr Daniel Mitchell, 4th Floor, Premium Services Health Clinic
73 Nguyen Huu Tho Street, Da Nang City
General and Emergency: 1900 2250 (line number 4)
Hours: Mon – Thurs 8am – 5pm
The Family Hospital is highly regarded among expat. On site is an American doctor (Daniel Mitchell) who has an excellent reputation. They are also very reasonably priced; have private rooms, good equipment and do diagnostics on site – HOWEVER: as there are no English speakers answering the phone, you will need a Vietnamese person to make an appointment for you. Alternatively, just turn up, as many people do.
Hoan My Hospital
161 Nguyen Van Linh St, Da Nang
+84 (0) 236 3650 950 (Emergency)
+84 511 3650 676
The Hoan My international ward has English-speaking doctors and nurses in addition to a proper, international clinic aimed at caring for foreigners. Linked with many insurance companies, it is often the referral hospital for Family Medical Practice and the ‘go to’ hospital for expats in the area. While double the price of a regular public hospital, it is still a small fraction of what you’d pay in the West.
