They say ‘necessity is the mother of invention’ so when you can’t find good quality children’s wear in Vietnam, what do you do? You open a shop called Copenhagen Delights.
“Living in a developing country with 3 children, it was a real challenge to find clothes that resonated with my expectations of good design and high quality”, says Copenhagen Delights designer, Pia Normann. “I had to resort to buying what the children needed on trips abroad until finally I decided to create my own kids’ collection.” And thus, in 2010 Copenhagen Delights was born.

And it soon took off. “Westerners have lots of these types of shops in their countries but designer clothes for children and babies is a concept not so common in the Asian world”, says shop assistant, Tien. “As many Asian people nowadays only have one or two children, they love this type of thing, they love the quality and designs, therefore people from Japan, China, Korea and Singapore buy much more.”
With little competition and a beautiful product, business for Copenhagen Delights is good. You’ll find their shops in Saigon, Hanoi and Hoi An.
And whilst there are many shops in Western countries offering children’s designer wear, there is something innately unique about Copenhagen Delights. Whilst the brand has its roots firmly in the modern it takes inspiration from the classic famous design traditions of Denmark in styles designed to provide good functionality and a comfortable fit.
