Named after the eclectic Parisian neighborhood that spawned Edith Piaf and many other notable French artists, Belleville Restaurant & Lounge is a meeting place for people from all walks of life. At this open and airy bar in the back streets of An Hoi people come together to enjoy music, art, and reasonably-priced, high-quality food and drinks in a pleasant environment.

Belleville Restaurant & Lounge, hoian restaurant

French and Vietnamese dishes like chicken cordon bleu, a six (French) cheese burger, and fresh, rolled-on-the-spot spring rolls are available until 11pm. Moderately priced beer and specialty mojitos and mai thais also appeal (around 100,000 VND (4 USD) but just 60,000 VND (2.75 USD) during happy hour).

Belleville’s ground floor opens to a terrace and garden that overlooks bustling Nguyen Hoang Street of Night Market fame. Here, from 6-10pm, there’s live music and open mic sessions every night where resident musicians entertain with a mix of contemporary acoustic covers, rock and country classics, and even the occasional Latin number (impressively sung in Spanish).  The stage is set with microphones, guitars and a cajón and all-comers are welcome. Whatever your level or experience, here it is all about community and fun, so put those nerves aside and get involved.

The airy restaurant attracts diverse groups, often seeking refuge from the hectic Night Market. Inside customers crowd around the bar, many standing and watching the music. There is also comfortable seating outside on the terrace and in the garden for a quieter, more intimate experience.

French artist and owner Lionel’s vision is to set up creative spaces for expats and travelers to work remotely in dedicated areas this sprawling complex. Taking inspiration from the eclectic Belleville Quartier itself, Lionel hopes to merge culture, creativity, and spirituality all in one space.

Belleville Restaurant and Lounge is Lionel’s answer to the needs of the burgeoning creative community of Hoi An and its visitors. Renovations to the second floor have seen the creation of a more intimate area. And, as alluded to above, big plans are afoot to increase the artistic elements of Belleville. Watch this space.

  1. Wonderful information. Are there any places where one can eat/drink to traditional Vietnamese music?

    • Hi Peter, have a look at our post about Guitar Hawaii. That’s always got something on and is more Vietnamese than Western although they have both styles. When you’re about to arrive let us know and we’ll look at what’s in the music schedules at that time for you.

      • Hi Stuart,
We are due to arrive this coming wednesday8th February.
If you have an idea of whats on i would appreciate it.
From 8th we stay 3 nights at Vinh hung Heritage. Hope thats not too far from the Guitar Hawaii.

After that we have 5 at Riverside resort then 5 nights at An Bang. I read the Belleville is also good for music.

Not into loud heavy rock stuff etc.

        • Hi Peter, by Wednesday our events calendar should be up to date for the things that are known. Start there when you arrive.
