Hoi An for Kids: Further Afield

So, you’ve exhausted all the land-based kids activities in Hoi An and the water-based trips, too. Don’t worry, you haven’t tapped out all your options just yet! From play centers in Da Nang to a hill-top wonderland, there’s plenty going on to entertain the troops.

All you have to do is look a little further or more simply read our latest guide, ‘Hoi An for Kids: Further Afield’, right here.

1) Journey into the hills

A medieval-style European town perched atop a Vietnamese mountain? Entrance by cable car to a 3-tiered “Fantasy Park”? Sounds like something that Walt himself would dream up.

Indeed, Ba Na Hills is somewhat of a wonderland – for children and adults alike. It’s got labyrinths and rollercoasters, climbing walls and even a 5D (yep, that exists!) cinema. It’s also got a dinosaur park and, crucially, bumper cars. Gotta love those bumper cars.

Finish your magical day with a visit to the fairytale French village and make sure to snap plenty of pics for the album back home. Because although it may have not been the cheapest day out, it’s certainly one you’ll want to remember.

Price (VND): For a full day, you’re looking at around 1,100,000 p.p. (includes cable car and entry fee: 700,000; guide: 100,000; lunch: 180,000; insurance 50,000 plus the transport to get there). You’ll pay extra for the train ride and wax museum.

2) Hang out at Vincom Center

Da Nang’s new shopping mall is well worth the 30-minute drive from Hoi An. First of all, it’s got the Vinpearl Ice Rink – where the entire family can take to the ice, sing festive songs and act like Christmas has come early. Ho, ho, ho.

But our favourite activity at Vincom is VinKE – an education-focused play center that brings a brilliant day out to both adults and children. Honestly, what could be more entertaining than watching your kids dress up in their profession of choice and go wild with excitement in a jungle gym?! If you’re still not convinced, fear not – there’s plenty of arcade games to keep adults and too-cool-for-school teens occupied, plus a 5D cinema in which they can get lost in virtual reality. Happy days.

3) Say hello to Helio

For another action-packed afternoon, head to the Helio Center in Da Nang. While it may not have the wow factor of Ba Na Hills, it does provide a more intimate and relaxed family environment, with a range of indoor and outdoor activities including go-karting, rollercoaster rides, karaoke and bowling. And you know the only thing better than bumper cars? Yep, bumper boats. (It’s got them, too.) Chow down on cake in the bakery as your kids play grown-up in simulated, real-life environments – from supermarkets to restaurants. A guaranteed crowd-pleaser…and did we mention the bumper boats?!

Hours: 5pm – 10pm, Monday – Friday; 8am – 10pm, Saturday & Sunday

Price (VND): Rides and activities are around 30,000 with arcade games from 5,000 – 10,000.
