There is certainly no shortage of coffee shops and bars in Hoi An. But few places cater to your beverage needs with as much attention-to-detail and sophistication as new kid on the block, Pure Vina Coffee.

Doubling as a charming café by day and trendy bar by night, the concept for Pure Vina Coffee was born out of a desire to provide a diverse range of food and drink without compromising quality. Freshly brewed coffee, delectable cocktails, healthy juices and mouth-watering Vietnamese or Western-style cuisine.

Manager, My, draws on his experience in high-end hospitality to offer a trendy style of coffee-drinking. Only the richest, fleshiest, and most aromatic beans are used to whip up various caffeinated treats, ranging from blended coffee to Vietnamese egg coffee to coconut coffee to Western mainstays like espresso, cappuccino or latte.

My Blended Hazelnut Macchiato Coffee was a delicious work of art. I appreciated the decorative touches, enjoying both its seductive presentation and nutty, velvety body.

Generous and Juicy

Equally attentive and meticulous when it comes to the art of cocktail-making, Pure Vina Coffee staff are fully trained mixologists. The menu boasts an array of options including classics like Margarita, Martini, Whisky Sour and more, and signature cocktails, such as Puretini (Vodka infused Coffee Bean & Vanilla, Espresso, Kahlua, Baileys), Tropical Hot in Cold (Gin infused Kumquat & Chili, Kumquat juice, Homemade Ginger Syrup) and Japanese Bridge (Rum infused cinnamon & apple, Midori, Cointreau, lime juice).

My delicious Tropical Daiquiri, garnished with a passion-fruit wedge and mint sprig was fruity yet fierce with a bitter-sweet finish. It instantly won my approval for its generous dose of booze and juice.

Pure Vina Coffee is currently working on its ‘smoothies and juice’ menu, but for now, health junkies can order a colorful concoction of fruit and vegetables of their choice. I opted for a purple-hued mix of beetroot, ginger, cucumber and pineapple, half expecting it to be watered down. Instead, I was impressed. The earthy taste of beetroot was perfectly balanced with the sweet tang of pineapple and spicy bite of ginger.

Delightful Culinary Offerings

For a place that specialises in drinks, the food at Pure Vina Coffee is surprisingly high-quality. The extensive menu comprises a versatile mix of Vietnamese and Western dishes loaded with fresh, flavorful ingredients, as well as Hoi An specialities such as Cao Lau and White Rose. Their deep-fried spring rolls – available as both vegetarian and meat options – are light, crispy, and lean. The fresh spring rolls are packed with bright, rich flavours: egg, shrimp and crunchy vegetables, and a side of creamy and refreshing (vegan) mango and cucumber salad.

It can be tricky to find somewhere with a wide selection that doesn’t scrimp on quality, but Pure Vina Coffee proudly rises to the challenge, offering patrons a chic yet relaxed space where they can cosy up with a coffee or swing by for a cocktail as the sun goes down and beyond.
