With its live performance, western food and great loungers on the sand, Soul Beach quickly became a favorite among travelers and expats. Here’s our complete review of Soul Beach in Hoi An and why you should pay them a visit when in town.

Soul Beach Overview

At Soul Beach in Hoi An, there is something for everybody! You can go for western food and enjoy a nice burger and a beer, but you can also have local food made with fresh vegetables, fruits, shrimps, noodles, rice and so on. Wash it all down with a Vietnamese coffee during the day and enjoy a nice cocktail in the evening!

The venue is in a premium position on An Bang beach so can be conveniently tied in with a swim or a day lounging on the sands.

Food and drinks

Prices for a main dish start at 200,000 VND ($8), but you can choose a starter if you are up for something light and you’ll end up paying around 100,000 VND ($4) for a small yet filling snack. Alongside some famous Vietnamese dishes you’ll find appetizers, snacks, salads and pasta dishes – a good range to satisfy all tastes without breaking the bank.

Beer prices are on par with similar beach-style venues and include Saigon craft beer Platinum for 50,000 VND ($2), whilst the delectable-looking cocktails are pricey but not out of reach. For a glass of wine it’s around 100,000 VND ($4).

Entertainment

At Soul Beach, the simple bamboo stage is set up for any kind of music, from folk and rock to DJ dance parties. Depending on what you are looking for, you can either relax to some classic covers performed live, or you can choose a DJ night and show some moves on the dancefloor.

It’s easy to see why Soul Beach is a great choice for any time of the day. It’s a relaxed, low-key haven where people can enjoy a meal, a drink (or four), and dance to their hearts’ content. In addition to its casual venue layout, Soul Beach also offers the requisite beach-side loungers for those who wish to relax and escape the sun, or even stargaze.

Review of Soul Beach in Hoi An

Soul Beach offers a delightful atmosphere, a bevy of cocktails, and a live music experience akin to that of its sister business, Soul Kitchen. While Soul Kitchen looks after the end of the week, Soul Beach has live performance or DJs on Mondays and Wednesdays.

With its comfortable couches, large family style tables and well-equipped bar, it is one of the very few entertainment options open early in the week in Hoi An.

On our visit to Soul Beach, we ordered a Saigon Special, which is a rarity in these parts. The crispy wonton was served piping-hot, crunchy and delicious, topped by an excellent sauce made of tomato and pineapple. The cashew chicken that followed was moist, well-presented with colorful, artfully-sliced vegetables, and accompanied by a clay pot of rice. Overall the food was competitive in price and quality and the atmosphere is as good as it gets, with great views of the beach and good music in the background.
