BA-LE WELL BEAUTY SALON – HAIRDRESSER $$ – $$$
Ba-Le Well Beauty Salon is very popular among expats and not just because of their Western gossip mags. Using international products, the owner has extensive experience cutting and coloring diverse hair types (but ensure you know your color levels on the chart in advance). Prices are reasonable, but expensive for Vietnam.
Dried out sun-frazzled ends? Scary dark roots? Fear not, the excellent Bale-Well hair salon can give you as snappy a snip as you would find in any major city. Look out London, move over New York, your tresses can be tamed at a fraction of the cost of a big city salon. Stylist and beauty therapist Nguyet, who owns and manages Ba-Le Well Beauty Salon with husband Nick has been lopping locks for the past 20 years.
Nguyet shows that you don’t need Vidal Sassoon certification to produce a first class cut. Having your hair done at Ba-Le Well is a pleasurable experience all around, not least because a divine head massage is sometimes thrown in for free and they take their time about it too, in fact way above and beyond the call of duty.
While you’re down there how about a spot of deforestation? A range of services are available, including waxing, threading, eyebrow shaping, to name a few, or how about a simple shave? …and for the men there’s plenty on offer too. Nguyet has proved herself a master of the “I’m not really bald’ cut, having plenty of practice on husband Nick, she delivered my own nearly-bald bloke back to the 21st century with precision engineering. His cut took longer than mine….less is obviously more.
Ba-Le Well offers a range of beauty services for men and women including manicures, pedicures, paraffin wax treatments, nail art design, hair removal by waxing and threading and facial and body massage. Hair services include cutting, conditioning, straightening, coloring, highlighting and perming. Set prices are reasonable by Western standards.
Life in the tropics and bad hair days don’t have to be inevitable so book an appointment with Nguyen at Bale Well … because it’s worth it.
