La Plage

7am – 9pm,
An Bang Beach (far right/southern end)
$$$

Once more bar than restaurant, La Plage’s kitchen has improved and is now one of the best introductions to Vietnamese food in Hoi An. So, now a bar and restaurant in equal measure, La Plage is one of Hoi An’s most convivial spots. It’s the sort of place where patrons sit chew the fat, then swim, then have a slow beer and then another swim. The beach here is as good as it gets.

In the heat of the day you can shelter in the shade under a thatched umbrella by the water as sea breezes fan you. This beach setting is the equal of any at An Bang, with a glorious view of the Cham Islands while distant Da Nang and Monkey Mountain are just visible on the same stretch of beach over 20 kilometers to the north.

In the evenings, La Plage cranks up a cruizy play list and a more festive vibe begins. It’s very family friendly – even dogs are welcome – with a kid’s playground and plenty of space to runaround. Don’t come too late for dinner though, as the doors close at 9pm .
