Unless you’re a shopaholic there’s nothing mind blowing about the Vincom shopping mall from a tourist’s point of view. Similar to many around the world, though perhaps smaller, it is air-conditioned, sparkling clean with the usual; but it’s a stand-out for kids, there’s an ice-rink, cinema and an edutainment play zone – all at international standards.
Vincom Shopping Mall, however, has a clear eye on Western style and sensibilities. For the shopaholics, those in need of something, or those in need of nothing but with nothing else to do, you can find an array of shopping opportunities. Spanning four levels, there’s the latest fashions, a supermarket, toy shop, book shop (with a large English section) and specialty stores selling candles, sheets and exercise gear.
If you’re looking for a phone or a TV or a blood pressure monitor after seeing the prices, there’s an electrical shop selling all the latest gadgets. On the ground floor are the shoes and, if you’re a shoe fiend like me, this is where you might linger pondering whether you should buy another pair of Ecco, Adidas or Bata shoes that you don’t need.
When you’ve exhausted yourself after your shopping frenzy and have just realized the prices are pretty much on par with those back home and need a coffee to allay the shock then head to the top level where you’ll find a gamut of coffee shops and restaurants and if the shock is really intense, there’s alcohol too.
