Public Party An Hoi Statue Garden
If you’ve been anywhere near Old Town lately you’ve probably noticed the large stage that now dominates An Hoi Statue Garden. There’s even been some performances in the evenings already as a tasty preview to Hoi An’s big New Year’s Eve bash.
As well as the odd performance and light show, the An Hoi Statue Garden has been hosting a photography exhibition since Christmas Eve that will run to 2 January. On New Year’s Eve, however, the entire area will be transformed further with games, street performers and culinary delights and this open public space will be crackling with excitement and a constant flow of entertainment.
Between 6.30-9.30pm this year’s theme will take us back to the Hoi An of the early 20th Century throughout Old Town and adjacent areas.
From 9.30pm – 1.00am in the main stage area entertainment including art performance, dance, flash mob, masquerade, music and a huge ‘lucky draw’ will be interspersed with celebrations of Quang Nam’s achievements in tourism such as the quite staggering “Welcome the 2.8 millionth international visitor to Quang Nam province.”
Somewhat distant from a rock ‘n’ roll rage, the tone of the event is summed up by the Hoi An World Heritage organization: “… at the transition moment between the old and the new year, everyone can hold hands together in the mood of friendship to pray for a happy and peaceful new year.”
Hotels and Resorts
Many of the hotels and resorts that ran with Christmas Eve buffet feasts are backing up again for New Year’s Eve – Little Hoi An Central, Phu Thinh Boutique Resort & Spa, Hoi An Historic Hotel to name a few. Most have entertainment planned as well with an array of games, competitions and music preceding the big countdown.
Sunrise Premium Resort & Spa promises a buffet and a party afterwards featuring lion dances and a DJ, finally winding up around 1.30am. Almanity Hoi An Wellness Resort is throwing in a live jazz band and a DJ for the countdown to midnight. Meanwhile, Belle Maison Hadana Hoi An Resort & Spa is showcasing its own choir, other music performances and dance over dinner and a DJ-led party from 10pm.
La Siesta Hoi An Resort & Spa is offering a four-course dinner supported by seafood BBQ stations. Its resident band and an array of local talent will also be on show.
As there’s a vast range in price, buffet fans should scan these options and choose according to budget and preferred entertainment. And, as there is no shortage of choices with many other hotels and resorts offering buffet feasts in addition to these if you surf the net, you’re bound to find the right fit for you.

Similarly positioned in central An Hoi, funky Mango Mango will have Latin flavored band Bonalipso from 7pm alongside its special holiday season menu. Both venues offer an opportunity to move in and out of the main stage festivities nearby.
Local favorite, Dive Bar, with one of the cruisiest ambiences in Old Town has 2 DJs from 8pm till late.
Star restaurants Green Mango, L’Aubergine 49 and Mango Mango are continuing with their special seasonal menus highlighted in our Christmas guide. White Marble Wine Bar & Restaurant, Lantern Town Restaurant and The Hoianian are also choice picks for a very special dinner.
For a very French New Year, pint-sized, lively restaurant, Le Cabanon, is thinking party, party, party with lots of champagne and games from 5pm and, as it’s just across from An Hoi, Le Cabanon offers a great view of the festivities there – 2am close.
Outstanding MIX Greek Restaurant, one of Hoi An’s most convivial spots, is going with its regular menu, and why wouldn’t it? The party’s already started at MIX.
