If you’re looking for a reasonably priced quality massage in a place where the atmosphere and calming ambience is one of a resort day spa then Palmarosa is definitely worth a visit. Using 100% natural ingredients, their healthy range of treatments includes facials, body scrubs, massage, foot massages and manicures. They also have a crèche.
They are popular so it may be an idea to book. On the day I visited there were no spots available and if not for a chance cancellation I would have been trudging back another day. I was surprised. In places like Hoi An there’s a spa on every corner and it’s most unusual to find one booked out – a great sign.
‘We are interested in quality’, imparted owner Trinh Quyen. ‘Our 17 staff were trained by a professional masseur six months before we opened. We assess customer feedback monthly and take it very seriously.’
To see this level of dedication towards a profession I hold dear is refreshing. Throughout my years in Vietnam, it has become clear that what you pay and where you go doesn’t mean a professional standard massage will follow. I have paid ‘peanuts’ in a small back-street spa and received a ‘to-die-for’ massage and paid a fortune at expensive hotels to find my masseur doesn’t have a clue. At the Palmarosa they’ve done the hard yards and consistent quality is the result.
