Every month from the 14th to the 16th of the Lunar month, the full moon lantern festival is celebrated in Hoi An. The festival is a time for Vietnamese people to worship their ancestors and wish for a prosperous and peaceful year. Visitors can experience the festival best in the evening, when local pagodas are lit by hundreds of candles and the streets are filled with traditional poetry readings and cultural performances.
Events really get going in Hoi An’s Old Town from 17:30 when colorful candlelit lanterns replace electric lights in the streets. The action is centered in the area between the Japanese Covered Bridge and the Cau An Hoi Bridge, which connects Hoi An with An Hoi, and spills onto the surrounding streets and river banks.
Time: 02 – 04 November (14th – 16th September of Lunar Month)
Venue: Hoi An Old Town
