The heat’s overwhelming, the kids’ energy levels are through the Richter scale and like half the world, you still can’t get that song from Frozen out of your head – well for a cheap, half-day outing, literally ‘Let it Go’ and head straight to Da Nang’s newest chilled venue for kids: Vinpearl Land Ice-Skating Rink.

Situated on the top level of Vincom shopping mall, this ice rink is as good as any you’ll find around the world.  For some, used to huge ice-skating arenas, this Rink may appear a tad modest but there’s still plenty of room to move.

Facilities, skates and protective wear are modern, technology is from Canada and, having just opened in June 2015, everything is brand new, squeaky clean.  There aree polar bear and penguin skating aids and experienced ice-skating staff on hand to help with any jittery skaters.  If you’re not into skating there’s viewing seats inside or you can alternatively sit outside sipping coffee or a beer from one of the many coffee shops or restaurants while watching your kids kick up an ice storm.  Mums with a shopping fetish can leave Dad to watch while they go on a shopping rampage through the many designer shops situated on levels below.

When everyone is tuckered out and feeling ravenous from all the pirouettes and jumps, surrounding the Rink is a plethora of restaurants offering cuisines of all types – from Sushi Bars, Vietnamese Food Palaces, Western-style joints touting ribs, pasta and steak to the more upmarket offering Japanese luxury sweets.

And the customer service is excellent too: as soon as staff found out it was one of our children’s birthday, a large ‘teddy-bear’ ice-skater appeared on the ice and, to the blaring backdrop of Happy Birthday, jigged the birthday girl and friends in a conga-line around the rink – and being such a smooth, professional outfit they gave us a 15% discount.

Vinpearl Land Ice Skating Rink is fun for all the family and well worth a visit but take spare clothes for the kids – falling down can be a damp, wet business!

So get your skates on and don’t miss out because in the words of Vinpearl Land’s website: – The temperature of the ice rink is always maintained below 0 degrees Celsius to bring a new sense of realism and strange, bringing feel of “real winter” over tropical land full of sunshine all year round…

    • Hi Thomas,
Yes they do have adult skates for hire, no problem. I have never seen ice hockey there but that’s not conclusive. You could contact the ice rink management directly about that.
