Proudly the first dedicated sports bar in Hoi An – with an unashamed Australasian bias – 3 Dragons Sports Gastropub kicked off well and has continued to improve its services and facilities. Now, with multiple screens and more space, you’ll be able to enjoy your game come hell or high water, with an icy cold beer and a gourmet burger.
A home away from home for many expats, 3 Dragons is not the cheapest option in town but it takes the prize when it comes to atmosphere for the big events.
From a smallish front bar, akin to an English pub, the facility now stretches through a recently renovated central area of lounge cubicles. There’s a quiet, al fresco setting out the back by the river as well where you can get away from it all (especially if your team’s getting clobbered). If you don’t like sport this oasis also supplies a handy, bucolic retreat from the growling, barracking and interminable abuse of the referees inside.
Owners Chung Nguyen and Simon Burns work overtime to look after you and have a solid expat following. The 3 Dragons Sports Gastropub website is also a valuable resource that features local broadcast times for all the main games.
If you like to watch the big games in a throng, 3 Dragons is the place to go and at other times its efficient management of multiple screens ensures you won’t miss your game, no matter what code. True, on the one hand you pay a little more, but on the other more comfortable options are provided than some other venues.
Next time I have some spare cash, 3 Dragons Sports Gastropub, with its superb Aussie rib-eye with chips and gravy, may well be my chosen venue when my game’s on.
